2XKO, the free-to-play team fighting game from Riot Games, is officially coming out of Early Access, with a full launch planned for January 20, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game, which is already playable on PC in Early Access, brings Riot’s League of Legends universe into the fighting game arena with a 2v2 focus designed for casual and competitive players.

When is the 2XKO release date

2XKO is a two-on-two team-based combat game where players control iconic League of Legends champions in explosive, assist-heavy battles. The title combines fast, accessible controls with in-depth tag mechanics, allowing players to control both characters solo or team up with a partner for coordinated duo play.

Set in the world of Runeterra, 2XKO features beautifully designed stages, original music, and reimagined moves for champions like Jinx, Yasuo, Ahri, and more, designed specifically for a traditional combat experience. 2XKO Early Access History and Launch Details

Riot opened early access for 2XKO on PC on October 7, 2025, after a closed beta period aimed at stress testing netcode, balance, and core systems. Progress since Early Access now continues, with no account wipes since the October reset, ensuring that cosmetics and unlocks earned by early adopters remain permanent.

The January 20, 2026 release marks the game’s console debut, finally bringing 2XKO to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S alongside the PC version in a unified, free-to-play launch. Riot also touts best-in-class rollback netcode and robust anti-cheat tools to support smooth online play from day one.

Competitive and community plans

2XKO is positioned as Riot’s next big esports-ready title, with a structured competitive roadmap already set for 2026. The circuit is expected to kick off shortly after launch at major FGC events like Frosty Faustings, Genesis X3, Texas Showdown, and Viennality, giving the game immediate exposure in the fighting game community.

Alongside official tournaments, Riot supports community events and local organizers, continuing the support started during Early Access through initiatives such as the First Impact program. With solid infrastructure, free access, and a built-in League of Legends fanbase, 2XKO’s January 20 launch is poised to have a significant impact on the 2026 fighting game calendar.
