2026 preliminary Olympic lists filled with NHL stars

Eight of the 12 nations participating in the male hockey tournament at the 2026 winter Olympic Games published their first lists of participants on Monday.
The preliminary lists are filled with NHL players with the exception of the Italian team, which has a place in matches as a host nation. Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo are host cities.
This will be the first appearance of NHL players at the Olympic Games since they took place in Sochi, Russia, in 2014.
A disagreement between NHL and IIHF prevented the NHL 2018 NHL players in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and they did not play in Beijing in 2022 due to planning problems linked to the trash.
Preliminary matches will start at the Olympic Games on February 11, with the gold medal match which should be played on February 22. Finland is the defending champion.
The other countries – Canada, Denmark, France and the United States – should announce their selections later on Monday.
