2026 Boston Marathon Celebration Jacket: A Story of Redemption

After the disappointment of last year’s lackluster “Lucid Blue” colorway (and a new stamped logo highlighting the race’s sponsor since 2023, Bank of America), the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) went back to basics for its latest Boston Marathon celebration jacket. The 2026 model combines the racing’s traditional royal blue and yellow in a striking design that also features a stitched logo, and in our eyes, it’s a winner.

Released on Wednesday, the promotional video for the 2026 Celebration Jacket is centered around the embroidered logo of the iconic Boston Marathon unicorn, which now also features the Bank of America logo, using the slogan “stitched in history.” The new jacket also features a cheeky ‘Catch Me If You Can’ slogan on the sleeve. So far, the reaction to the design has been overwhelmingly positive, especially when compared to last year’s disaster.

“They got the memo,” one comment read.

“It’s great that you’re hearing us and making changes!” »wrote another fan.

Last year, the jacket received heavy criticism for moving away from its usual stitched BAA logo in favor of a Bank of America-centric printed patch on the front and back. The jacket is now available for purchase for $120 USD, the same price as last year. It is currently exclusively online in the United States

Adidas has been making the Celebration Jacket since 1991 and it has become a must-have item for runners who achieve it.

Consecutive victories for BAA

This is not the first wave of criticism the race has responded to. Last year, the Boston Marathon also made a triumphant return to the medal category, revealing a shiny gold unicorn embossed on a cutout centerpiece with a white crest, a major improvement over the 2024 medal design that was called “tacky” and “cheap.”

Internet Reacts to 2025 Boston Marathon Celebration Jacket

In September, BAA revealed a cutoff time of four minutes and 34 seconds. Out of 33,267 applicants (the second highest number of applicants in its history), 24,362 runners were accepted, leaving more than 8,900 athletes who ran to standard without a place.

The 130th edition of the race is set for Monday April 20, 2026.
