UPDATED with full list of winners: The 52nd annual Daytime Emmys, otherwise known as daytime soap operas’ biggest night, just concluded Friday in Pasadena, California. ABC General Hospital was just named best drama series to crown the ceremony hosted by Mario Lopez at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
It was the second consecutive victory for General Hospitalwho took home seven trophies tonight, topping a category that included this year’s top nominee The Young and the Restlessand that of Peacock The days of our lives. (CBS’ Beyond the doorsjust bowed in February and missed the Emmy eligibility window. The show, which was renewed for a second season and received several kudos tonight, will be eligible next year.)
Tonight in the main soap opera acting categories, Nancy Lee Grahn won her third Emmy for playing Alexis Davis in General Hospitalwhile Paul Telfer won for playing Xander Kiriakis in The days of our lives. In the meantime, The Young and the Restless“Susan Walters and General HospitalJonathan Jackson of , won their respective supporting actor categories, while Lisa Yamada of The Bold and the Beautiful won the first Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series award.
Other big winners tonight include Live with Kelly and Mark tops the Daytime Talk Series category ahead of last year’s winner The Kelly Clarkson Show with The Drew Barrymore Show, The Jennifer Hudson Show And The view. Barrymore took home the trophy tonight for Outstanding Host of a Daytime Talk Series; his team remained in New York where the syndicated show is produced.
Syndicated fare took home six trophies tonight, including Disney Entertainment Distribution Live with Kelly and Mark and CBS Media Ventures’ Warm bench. Netflix led all platforms with nine wins tonight, followed by ABC with eight and CBS and Peacock with two each.
Among the many winners, Apple TV The secret life of animals won three Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Science and Nature Program; those of Netflix Black Barbiewho won for outstanding arts and popular culture program and for writing; And Entertainment tonight which won the Entertainment News Series and Daytime Personality – Daily categories. In food categories, Food Network’s Delicious Miss Brown won Outstanding Culinary Educational Series and the show’s Kardea Brown for Outstanding Culinary Host.

The days of our lives Star Deidre Hall presented Deborah Norville with the Daytime Emmys’ Lifetime Achievement Award for her career as an anchor and news host covering local news in Atlanta and New York, followed by the Today show, CBS News and Inside Editionthe latter where she has been a presenter for 30 years (she announced that the current season was her last, after starting a new gig hosting the syndicated game show The perfect line).
