`Sound of Falling ” by Mascha Schilinski, obtains glowing criticism in Cannes

Some Cannes festivals take days to start in terms of critical tubes. Not this year.
We told you about the Buzz of Mascha Schilinski’s competitive film some time ago Sound to fall. We told you in February that it was a probable surprise entry for the competition, although Schilinski is relatively unknown. Then we told you last month that MK2 had disrupted a large quantity to secure the film. There must be a good reason if Cannes has scheduled a film of a relatively unknown filmmaker on the second day.
The film has just made its debut in Cannes and the critics shine. It already looks like a very alive palm competitor. You can consult our opinion here. Our criticism Damon Wise says: “Cinema is a word too small for what this sprawling but intimate epic realizes in its ethereal and annoying brilliance; Forget Cannes, forget the competition, forget all year round, even …Sound to fall is an all-time.
The variety described her as a “astonishing and ambitious second feature”, while Thr called her “a film that looks like nothing you have seen before, making you question the very notion of what a film can be … The second daring feature of Schilinski is right: a transfixing chronicle.” A vulture title radiated: “We may have already seen the best film in Cannes this year”, while Indiewire calls it a “fascinating stunning”.
Now there is a scrum among buyers to get the film. Most territories remain open. Market screening has been very followed, we hear, with studio leaders who would not arise normally. MK2 has global rights and we will probably not have to wait a long time for splashing offers on the film. The question is how studios are ready to go. Buyers who bought the film very early feel very well in their skin. There will also be a fray among American and British agents and managers who seek to register the German filmmaker.
The synopsis reads as follows: “During a century, while four girls of different periods experience their youth in a German farm, their life becomes linked to the time that time seems to dissolve.”
“We were just stunned when we saw Sound to fall. The vision of Mascha Schilinski is so daring and visceral, this signals the arrival of a new exceptional voice in the cinema, “said MK2 last month.
The film, which was once known as The doctor says I’m fine, but I feel blue – A title The leader of Cannes, Thierry Frémaux, said that he was a fan of – present Luise Heyer, Lena Urzendowsky, Susanne Wuest and Lea Drinder among the actors. The filmmaker made her debut in 2017 with Dark blue girl.
