Liverpool has very high hopes for Wirtz, and this was clearly indicated in the finances splashed to bring it. Alongside Mohamed Salah, he will be the main hope of attack on the club, but there is no doubt that there will be strong pressure on him to perform in the Premier League and in the Championship League.

Wirtz reports number two for Liverpool this summer, and number three should follow quickly – that being Milos Kerkez. An agreement has been agreed for the left rear of Bournemouth, which should join in the region of 40 million pounds sterling.

And Liverpool will not be done there. They also envisage a movement for Marc Guehi to replace Jarell Quansah, who should move in the direction of Wirtz. There is also an interest in Alexander Isak, although concluding an agreement with Newcastle will be extremely difficult to accomplish.
