2 fall to death after a panoramic view of the Bryce Canyon National Park

Two people plunged around 380 feet to their death after a popular place of view in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, authorities announced on Tuesday, the day their bodies were found.

We did not know what had led to their falls or for how long their body was there, but the two, a man and a woman, seemed to have climbed on a safety balustrade at the top of inspiration, said Wade Mathews, spokesperson for the Sheriff of the Sheriff of Garfield County.

The officials identified them as Matthew Nannen, 45, and Bailee Crane, 58. They said that the two lived in a U-Haul truck at the time of their death and that their last known address was in Florida.

Their bodies were spotted by tourists, according to the sheriff’s office, who said they were most likely died late Monday evening or Tuesday morning. Emergency workers used a helicopter in the recovery process.

There was snow on the ground at the top of the cliff earlier this week, which, according to the authorities, could have created slippery conditions.

Perched above rock formations similar to the chimney known as Hoodoos, Inspiration Point is among the most famous boasts along the Rim Trail in the Bryce Canyon National Park in the Utah Center-South. The landscape forms a natural amphitheater, which is particularly popular at sunrise.

There is a safety rail with a chain fence at the bottom, between the path and the edge of the cliff.

The National Park Service was not immediately available to comment on Wednesday.
