If someone shouts “Summer Potluck?!” In the group cat, I interpret it as a call to a full party. After all, it is the season of grilled cursors, chopped watermelon and nap under a canopy of trees. And, of course, eat everything in the company of others. That said, little is more embarrassing than realizing that your sharing dish is a twin, a triplet or that of someone else. It happens more than I would like to admit it. In a particularly chaotic and last-minute potluck, our table displayed three cheese macaroni trays, four identical pitchers of orange juice and … not much else. So much for the meal-party of my dreams.
Although a cheese macaroni party may seem fun in theory, I prefer to feast on an appropriate mixture of bites. Beets, desserts, drinks, good salads and sandwiches – I want them all. To help your group avoid dreaded overlap, we have compiled a list of summer staples for a well balanced and well -balanced potluck.
