10 underestimated Jedi quotes which reveal a deeper wisdom

Jedi are often considered a source of wisdom in Star WarsBut these eight quotes prove that there are more in their wisdom than we think. The Jedi meditated on the force tracks for 25,000 years at the time of the Skywalker saga, and he gave them unprecedented wisdom and insight.

We all know some of the often cited maxims of Master Yoda, but there is so much more in the wisdom of the Jedi. These ten Jedi quotes highlight the central themes of the Skywalker saga, and are so much more important than they seem at first sight …

“Be attentive to the living force, my young Padawan.”

Star Wars Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon in the ghost threat

From the start Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom MenaceObi-Wan Kenobi expresses his concern to his master, Qui-Gon Jinn. The Jedi Padawan feels a black hand manipulating events on Naboo, but Qui-Gon tells him to be attentive to the living force and to live in the moment.

Force is often divided into two aspects: cosmic force (which links all things and shapes fate) and living force (the presence of force at a given moment, from the cosmic force). Qui-Gon thought that the Jedi had become decreased and less important because they were too focused on the cosmic force.

Modern Star Wars had tended to treat Qui-Gon as a knowledge source that Jedi council should have listened more. But Qui-Gon is wrong here; Obi-Wan feels the shadow of the Sith, and his master ignores it.

“To say that if the Jedi die, the light dies is vanity”

Luke Skywalker has something of a Downer on the Jedi at the time of Star Wars: The Last JediBut there is a lot of his truth in his complaints. In this key quote, he rejects the arrogance of the Jedi to perceive himself as avatars on the light side of the force.

The Jedi are servants of light, but they are not themselves the light.

It is a truth that the Jedi have often forgotten. The Jedi of the High Republic were willing to work with other traditions of the light lateral force, such as the Guardians of the Whills, but it had been forgotten at the time of the prequelles. How much would they have been better if they had remained humble?

“To respond to power with power, the Jedi way is not.”

Yoda in Clone Wars season 7

One of the main quotes of Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone WarsThis one line explains why clones wars were the ultimate Jedi trap. War concerns domination, and the desire to dominate – to triumph over an enemy and to overwhelm them – is not the Jedi way. By putting the war, the Jedi lost their goal.

We also see it in so many discussions on fans. How long has passed to debate who is the most powerful Jedi? But a Jedi seeks wisdom, not power; Their size is defined by their intimacy with force, and not with the exploits they are able to play.

“It is not a question whether we are fighting or not. This is how we are fighting that count.”

One of Kanan Jarrus’s maxims in Star Wars RebelsIt is much more important than you think at first glance. As a Sith Lord, Palpatine pushed to power while the galaxy turned to darkness. Even rebel cells like those established by Saw Gerrera have served its objective because they have encouraged fear.

Kanan’s words indicate a different way, towards a superior truth that would ultimately save the Galaxy of the Sith. It is indicative that the rebel alliance only succeeds when the generation of leaders who compromised and who treated in fear all fell; It is only light that throws darkness, not darkness.

“We are not defined by what we lose. We are defined by what we survive.”

One of the most intriguing quotes of AcolyteThis – spoken by Master Sol, a Younglings coach – highlights the Jedi philosophy of non -attachment. Sol understands that even a Jedi can undergo a loss, but being a Jedi is going beyond the loss; To release the pain and embrace strength.

A person defined by his loss will be forever imprisoned by pain. On the other hand, the one who really “survives” it is able to learn from it, becoming stronger and better for that.

Notice the lack of triumphalism in soil philosophy. For a person struggling with the pain of loss, the prospect of moving on and becoming stronger in their pain seems impossible. The best they can hope for at that time is simply to survive.

“To abandon his student, a more difficult challenge, it will be the case.”

We are sometimes too hard on the Jedi of the era of the prequel. Master Yoda recognized the greatest weakness of Anakin Skywalker, the difficulty he dropped from those he loves, and he designed circumstances to try to help. He gave Anakin an apprentice, knowing that Hsoka Tano would leave him one day.

Normally, it would have been a master stroke; Anakin should have finally released Ahsoka to become a Jedi knight in its own right. But Yoda underestimated the extent to which the dark side had become dominant, and everything took place in a very different way.

“The black side muds everything.”

Spoken by Master Yoda Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of clonesThis line alludes to the true nature of force. While the balance of the force bows to the dark side, the Jedi find their ability to rely on the reduced force – especially when it comes to using it for wisdom and insight.

This is why the Jedi make so many mistakes during the era of the prequel. They are confused and uncertain because they have lost their natural advantage over the Sith.

“If what you told me is true, you will have won my confidence.”

Spoken by Mace Windu Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the SithThis unique line shows how far the Jedi fell from their ideals. Mace is the master of the order, responsible for the daily race of the Jedi, and yet he openly admits that Anakin Skywalker does not have his confidence.

I can’t help but feel this sentence to a single sentence that we don’t think so to put Anakin on the way to become Dark Vader. Despite everything he did for the Jedi, despite everything he lost and risky for them, he never had the confidence of the order.

2

“According to my experience, there is no chance.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi New Hope on Tatooine

It is a simple declaration of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first Star Wars film, but this sentence reappears a large part of the Star Wars saga. Obi-Wan came in a place where he trusted the will of force, depending on orchestrating the events of his life.

This is particularly significant given the same film presents Han Solo, a character renowned for his good luck. If there is no chance, then in truth, Han is simply a man with a role in the will of force, aligning unconsciously.

“I hope you at least said to Padmé that I had said hello”

Termons with a line of Star Wars: The Clone Wars which subtly crops the whole saga. Obi-Wan had known Anakin and Padmé for a short time after the start of clone wars (see Mike Chen Fraternity for this story). He had chosen to do nothing about it, and here He ultimately suggests Anakin that he knows.

Anakin lived a double life throughout the wars of clones, fearing that the truth would be discovered. But have his fears actually exaggerated? Would the Jedi really have to go if they discovered the truth about his marriage to Padmé? Obi-Wan’s reaction raises the possibility that Star Wars Saga could have played so differently, if Anakin had chosen to be honest.
