DOJ sues Illinois over state laws that compromise safety of federal agents – The Presidential Prayer Team

DOJ officials denounce the state’s attempts to regulate federal agents and expose them to liability.
The U.S. Department of Justice sued Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Attorney General Kwame Raoul over state laws intended to regulate federal law enforcement officers. The lawsuit calls the state’s new laws, which aim to protect illegal aliens from arrest in courthouses, hospitals, schools and daycares, unconstitutional.
“The Department of Justice will strongly protect law enforcement against unconstitutional state laws like Illinois’ that threaten significant punitive liabilities and compromise the safety of our officers,” said Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate of the Justice Department’s Civil Division.
“Unfortunately, Illinois politicians would rather attack law enforcement with lawsuits and punitive damages than support ICE’s Criminal Alien program, which prioritizes the safe removal of dangerous criminal aliens like murderers, child rapists, and other serious offenders,” said U.S. Attorney Steven Weinhoeft for the Southern District of Illinois. “Courthouse arrests are only necessary in the first place because Illinois refuses to honor federal inmates in jails and prisons, preferring instead to release criminals into our communities.”
Under the direction of the Lord, pray with us…
- For DOJ officials seeking to overturn state laws that protect illegal aliens and expose federal agents to liability.
- For the safety of ICE, CBP and Border Patrol agents as they work to detain and remove illegal criminals from metropolitan areas.
- For governors, attorneys general, and other state leaders to honor the supremacy of the federal government in enforcing immigration laws.
