MIDEA remembers 1.7 million air conditioners Sold in the United States, plus 45,900 others sold in Canada, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The air conditioners were sold in three cooling power sizes: 8,000 BTU,, 10,000 BTUAnd 12,000 BTU.
They were available nationally in stores like Costco,, Menards,, Home DepotAnd Best purchase, And on online retailers like Amazon,, Lowes.com,, Walmart.comAnd Bjs.com.
The units were sold between March 2020 and May 2025 and operated between $ 280 and $ 500.
The design of U -shaped air conditioners can sometimes prevent water from passing properly fairly quickly, causing growth of mold.
Exposure to mold can pose respiratory problems or the risk of other infections for certain consumers.
So far there has been 152 mold reports In air conditioners, including 17 consumers who have experienced symptoms of exposure to molds, in particular:
- Respiratory infections
- Allergic reactions
- Cough
- Sneezing
- Sore throat
Consumers choose to repair the unit recalled or obtain a refund.
- Repair: MIDEA will provide a technician to repair the unit or send customers a repair kit. If you use the unit while you are waiting for repair, MIDEA has provided instructions on how to inspect the mold unit on their website.
- Refund: Consumers will be invited to submit proofs of the product recalled, then to have it or to return the unit to MIDEA with a free prepaid label.
